Alejandra has been working as a self-employed translator since 1999 and as an interpreter since 2003. Between 2003 and 2006, she also worked as a tutor and research assistant at the University of Western Sydney, where she completed her postgraduate studies. In 2007, she joined the editorial team at McGraw-Hill Australia, gaining valuable experience in the publishing world for over a year.

In 2009, Alejandra created Australian Forensic Interpreters, an online forum for discussion of legal interpreting issues. The forum is open to judges, legal practitioners, interpreters, researchers and language department managers interested in the betterment of interpreting services across the Australian criminal, civil and administrative justice systems.

She is currently working as a forensic interpreter through both private agencies and state and Commonwealth government departments. Her work includes criminal and civil matters, Refugee Review Tribunal hearings and various types of interviews, meetings and international conferences.

NB: Alejandra will be on parental leave until September 2010.

Australian accreditation

Accredited as a Spanish–English translator and interpreter, in both language directions, by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI No 41381).
