Alejandra has been working as a self-employed translator since 1999 and as an interpreter since 2003. She has a Degree in Translation from the National University of La Plata and a Master of Arts Degree in Interpreting and Translation from the University of Western Sydney, where she has also worked as a tutor and research assistant.

In 2007, she joined the editorial team at McGraw-Hill Australia and enjoyed the challenges of the publishing world for over a year. However, the recurrent issues encountered in various court interpreting assignments led her to embark on an Honours thesis in the field.

As well as conducting her research, she is currently working as a forensic interpreter through both private agencies and state and Commonwealth government departments. Her work includes criminal and civil matters, Refugee Review Tribunal hearings and various types of interviews, meetings and international conferences.

In 2009, Alejandra created Australian Forensic Interpreters, an online forum for discussion of legal interpreting issues. The forum is open to judges, legal practitioners, interpreters, researchers and language department managers interested in the betterment of interpreting services across the Australian criminal, civil and administrative justice systems.

Australian accreditation

Accredited as a Spanish–English translator and interpreter, in both language directions, by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI No 41381).
